A --------------------------------------------------------------------- | README FILE for Unicode in BS2000/OSD | | Version: March 2010 | --------------------------------------------------------------------- This README file for Unicode in BS2000/OSD supplements the following manual: Unicode im BS2000/OSD Introduction Version: March 2006 Order number: U41646-J-Z125-1-76 A Contents ======== 1 Introduction.................. ............................... 2 2 SHOW-FILE .................................................... 2 3 UDS .......................................................... 2 4 OMNIS ........................................................ 3 A - Page 2 - 1 Introduction ========== This readme file provides supplementary information for the manual "Unicode in BS2000/OSD". 2 Show contents of a file (SHOW-FILE) =================================== SHOW-FILE as of V17.1A also supports the output of files with the character sets UTFE, UTF8, UTF16 and other ASCII character sets. SHOW-FILE interprets the data in a data character set and converts them for output in a communication character set. Contents of files in all character sets supported by XHCS can thus be output using XHCS. This also applies when the data character set is not supported by the terminal. Detailed information is in the manual Commands volume 6 (BS2000/OSD). http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/8554/cmd_6.pdf 3 Unicode support in UDS/SQL =========================== UDS/SQL as of V2.5 enables saving and retrieval of Unicode characters in UDS/SQL databases. In UDS/SQL databases you can define fields of the data type NATIONAL CHARACTER and NATIONAL CHARACTER VARYING and save the Unicode data in UTF-16 format. Meta data, such as the names of record types, sets and realms, are still output and saved in EBCDIC. As part of restructuring, new fields of the data type NATIONAL are initialized with the national blank. Detailed information about Unicode support in UDS/SQL is in the manuals 'UDS/SQL Design & Define (BS2000/OSD)', 'UDS/SQL Creation & Restr (BS2000/OSD)' and 'UDS/SQL Database Operations (BS2000/OSD). http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/3207/uds_eud.pdf http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/3205/uds_auu.pdf http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/3206/uds_dbb.pdf A - Page 3 - 4 OMNIS ===== OMNIS as of V8.5A supports message traffic in the unicode character set.
