Meaning

NSI008F is displayed in connection with NSI008E. The operator

Response

On any operator input, parameter service will continue with message

All parameters following the wrong record in the actual input file

Response

If EOT is entered, the erroneous record is ignored and system

(no options).
The following options are offered:
UNLOCK, TEST, ALLDISK, DRV-SELECT, CREATE-DRV
on machines of type XS31 with IOCF (not equal to C40-) there is
offered additionally: IPL-CONF.
All options may be combined in any sequence.
Meaning of the options:
UNLOCK:
has the effect that system initialization may be performed in
some exceptional cases.
In these exceptional cases the operator and system administration
must check carefully,
if system initialization may continue without damage of the
data sets consistency.
The following exceptional cases are concerned :
Reset of system time in comparison to the last session.
ALLDISK:
In the disk configuration being used by startup all available disks
will be inserted. By this, load objects and/or REP/parameter files
may be read from any disk, even outside of home-PVS.
If hardware IPL is processed from private disk, then the option ALLDISK
is set implicitely.
Setting this option (explicit or implicit) causes setting of IPL-CONF-
option IGNORE implicitely.
IPL-CONF:
Has the effect that options for the usage of the file
SYSDAT.IPL-CONF.vvv will be offered to the operator.
DRV-SELECT:
All decisions to pick out the disk to be used of a DRV-disk
pair will be done by the operator.
CREATE-DRV:
A SRV-Home PVS becomes a DRV-PVS during imcat of home-PVS.
TEST:
Has the effect, that the operator is asked for options to be used
in special test situations.

Meaning

STRTNAME:
Offers the possibility to load SYSSTART from a file, the filename
of which is different from the standard filename.
It has the effect that before loading SYSSTART the operator
is asked for the file name of the load module.
REPERRIGN
Has the effect that processing will continue after detection of any
error(s) in the file SYSREP.STRT.vvv (or the file specified deviating
from the standard file name) without expecting an answer to the
message NSI0066.
WATCH
This test option has the effect that a monitoring of a certain device
will be activated. This means that System Initialization will be ter-
minated in case of problems which prevent usage of this device by IPL-
Exec. Thereby the possibility for creating diagnostics (SLED) follows.
The device to be monitored is to be specified by the following
message NSI1117.
IPLTEST:
This option is provided for quality assurance of software development.
System initialization is not possible when using this option.
DUMPTEST:
This option is provided for quality assurance of software development.
System initialization is not possible when using this option.
This option has the effect that a pattern is written into each halfpage
of real main memory beginning at 2nd page and ending at 8 MB.
System initialization will be terminated without message.
The following dump of main memory (SLED) may be verified automatically.
the contents of main memory are modified in the following way :
bytes X'00001000' through X'00001003' := X'00001000'
bytes X'00001800' through X'00001803' := X'00001800'

etc.
bytes X'007FF800' to X'007FF803' := X'007FF800'
ASYNSKPIN:
This option is provided for quality assurance of software development.
System initialization is impossible when using this option.
This option has the effect, that if there is a SKP/MU as IPL-Console,
there will be always a read command at the input path active.
Therefore a change to the class1-exec is not possible.

NSI1116   ENTER IPL-CONF OPTION OR EOT. REPLY (IGNORE; RESET; SAVE; EOT=IGNORE)

Meaning

The operator has requested IPL-CONF option by message NSI1110. He is
now asked to enter one of the offered option or a combination of
options (options SAVE and RESET must not be combined) or an
empty reply (that means IGNORE).
IGNORE:
has the effect that the IPL-CONF, existing on each IPL-disk, will be
ignored and the determination of the startup disk configuration will
be done by checking all available devices (on line scan will be
performed).
This option must be used if the IPL-CONF on the IPL-disk contains
valid information, but system initialization shall be performed
from a different disk configuration.
This option is set implicitely by setting of IPL-option ALLDISK
(explicitely or implicitely).
RESET:
has the effect that the IPL-CONF contents on the IPL-disk will be
invalidated after using by startup and therefore cannot be used for
further system initializations.
SAVE:
has the effect that informations about all disks needed for the
actual system initialization (normally all disks of the HOME- and
PAGING-pubset(s)) will be stored into a save area existing on all
IPL-disks (the IPL-CONF). All further system initializations which
are performed from this IPL-disk and at the same machine automatically
use this startup configuration (unless prohibited by option IGNORE)
without access to other devices and therefore side effects by
accessing devices not needed are avoided (suppression of on line
scan).
This reduces the time for system initialization at sites
with large periphery configuration.
A saved IPL-CONF can be used as long as the stored disk
characteristics match the actual startup configuration (for
each needed disk the disk identification VSN, the device
identification MN, the device type and the number of disks for
each needed pubset).

of segments in the load module.
WRONG DESCRIPTOR BLOCK:
A half page being specified as descriptor block does not
   contain descriptors.
FORMAT NOT ALLOWED:
Only load modules generated with BINDER are processed.
Load modules generated with TSOSLNK are not allowed.
PROGRAM HEADER NOT IN FIRST BLOCK:
the first block of the load module does not contain the program header.
TXT/MOD-BLOCK WRONG:
The contents of a txt / mod block of the load module are invalid,
   e.g. caused by erroneous corrections.
WRONG NUMBER OF DESCRIPTORS SPECIFIED IN PROGRAM HEADER:
The number of descriptors specified in program header differs
from the number of descriptors in the load module.
LOADPOINT NOT EQUAL SYSBASE:
The loadpoint in the BS2000 load module is not equal to the
value of SYSBASE, which is specified in BS2000 itself.
INCONSISTENT FORMAT OF LOAD MODULE:
The load module has an inconsistent format,

NSI2208   IGNORE (&03)=(&01) OR (&04)=(&02) TO VOLUME (&00)? REPLY (1;2(&05))

Meaning

Two disk volumes with same VSN (&00) have been found on different devices
with device identifications (&03)=(&01) and (&04)=(&02).
(&03) = MN1 on hardware XS31 with IOCF or PATH1 otherwise,
(&04) = MN2 on hardware XS31 with IOCF or PATH2 otherwise.
(MN = device mnemonic, PATH = device address or device number).
Such a configuration is inconsistent. It can be corrected via software
by ignoring the disk device which is not needed. If several paths
(on type not equal XS31 with IOCF) lead to the volume which is not needed,
then this message must be replied for every path.

Response

Answer 1 : Disk device (&01) with VSN (&00) will be ignored,
the determination of the disk configuration will continue.
Answer 2 : Disk device (&02) with VSN (&00) will be ignored,
the determination of the disk configuration will continue.
Answer ETX: This answer is possible for DRV-Volumes and using IPL-
option "DRV-SELECT" only. It will be tried to select the
"better" DRV-Volume automatically. If this is unsuccessful
message NSI2208 will be repeated without offering
           answer ETX.
Otherwise: The inconsistent disk configuration may also be corrected
by switching off one of the two disk devices physically
and by repeating system initialization subsequently.
